Color, Gold Coast

Lived-in blonde, no line to grow out.

Low-maintenance blonding, grey blending and custom balayage from a stylist of 12 years whose first love was color. What clients mention is the outgrowth.

“The outgrowth is a very smooth process and they like how you’re not seeing lines and noticeable differences as it grows out.” Megan, on what color clients notice

Megan trained at Paul Mitchell The School Chicago, then did a color apprentice program at one of the Gold Coast’s top salons. Color was her first love, and extensions came after.

That is why she matches extension color herself, and why her blonding is built to grow out soft.

The consultation

“Warm” means different things.

“If somebody says warm and I think warm, you might think that means something different.” So Megan asks. What do you like about your hair now, so you do not lose it? What do you like in each inspiration photo, and what do you not? Photos that are all over the place help, because each one shows her something different.

Color clients can do this through the consultation form: a recent photo of your current color and length, an inspiration photo, and a little of your hair history.

At home

Keep the tone clean.

  • Hard water and mineral buildup cause brassiness. A shower filter helps.
  • Dry shampoo on a fresh blowout, on dry hair, buys an extra day or two.
  • A little oil on the ends at night, and you wake up to shine.
  • A boar bristle brush moves your scalp’s oils down to the ends.

In her words: “I can do a great color, but if you’re not taking care of it at home, it can look like a bad color.”

Questions

Color, answered.

What is lived-in blonde?

Blonde placed so it grows out softly, without a hard line at the root. It is built to go longer between appointments.

How much is a grey touch-up with Megan?

A single color or grey touch-up starts at $130 on her booking menu, and a gloss is $120. The final price depends on your hair.

Can I do a color consultation without coming in?

Yes. Send Megan a recent photo of your current color and length, an inspiration photo and a little of your hair history through the consultation form. Color services can then be booked online.

Why does my blonde turn brassy?

Hard water and mineral buildup are a common cause. Megan often recommends a shower filter, and home care matters as much as the color itself.

Do you do grey blending?

Yes. Grey blending with highlights is one of the color services Megan focuses on.
